Economic structure
Norway is a diverse industrial society with a free market economy and generally low trade barriers. A significant share of the Norwegian economy consists of service industries, including wholesale and retail trade, banking, insurance, engineering, transport and communications and public services.
The petroleum sector constitutes a substantial part of the Norwegian economy. Norway ranks as the world's third largest oil exporter and the tenth largest producer.
The EEA Agreement provides for the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital among the signatory states, constituting the European Economic Area.
